Stories of Intimacy, Fracture, and Return
I write character-driven upmarket novels about connection — how it forms, how it fractures, and how it heals.
Grounded in psychological realism and close interior perspective, my work moves through belonging, grief, and love.
This space is home to my current novel, The Quiet in Us, and to the stories that grow from a deep attention to human relationships.
I’m a German-Dutch writer living between languages, cultures, and cities, with a fascination for themes that resonate deeply in our modern world: appreciation, belonging, and gratitude, set against the quieter realities of loneliness, loss, and the fragility of mental well-being. My work explores relatable emotional journeys within an atmospheric, multilingual international setting.
My debut novel, The Quiet in Us, is a contemporary love story set across European cities.
They see one another long before they meet – but what happens when they must face the weight of reality? Does love break – or does it grow stronger?
For years, Erynn’s life has unfolded between film sets, hotel rooms, and world cities. His career is firmly established, his public life carefully contained, his roles celebrated far beyond Sweden’s borders. But the loss of his best friend Arvid shatters the fragile balance he has painstakingly maintained at the height of his success.
One evening, searching Instagram for traces of Arvid, he stumbles upon a long-forgotten comment that hits him with unexpected force. Its author, Emelle, moves confidently between languages and countries as an independent consultant. Widowed young, she has built a deliberately private life in Amsterdam with her cat Blue-Blue, surrounded by a small, trusted circle of friends and family.
What begins with a handful of messages gradually grows into something neither of them anticipated – a warm, witty refuge where late-night banter, quiet conversations, and shared silences deepen into a profound connection. Emelle’s words give shape to what Erynn struggles to name. His voice, in turn, awakens something in her she believed had long fallen silent.
As closeness deepens, distance begins to blur – yet Emelle’s professional loyalties, Erynn’s life in the public eye, and their unspoken fears press between them. In trying to protect one another, they risk the very thing they have so carefully built.
Set against the backdrop of international cities – from Stockholm and Amsterdam to London, Berlin, Vienna, and Paris – The Quiet in Us tells the story of a love born after loss, of intimacy as both shelter and risk, and of what it means to choose one another without losing yourself.
Your Questions,
Answered
What kind of stories do you write?
I write novels that explore connection, belonging, grief, and love. My work sits at the intersection of literary fiction and upmarket, emotionally sensitive romance, grounded in psychological realism and close interior perspective. The stories unfold across contemporary European settings and focus less on plot mechanics than on what happens inside people – and between them.
What are you working on right now?
I’m currently in the final editing phase of my debut novel, The Quiet in Us. It’s a slow-burn literary novel with a romantic core, shaped by intimacy, fracture, and the possibility of return. The book follows two people whose connection unfolds – and strains – under emotional and external pressure.
The Quiet in Us is the first part of a planned trilogy about Erynn and Emelle. The second book, The Storm in Us, is already underway.
Why do your stories move between places and languages?
Because many of us live between worlds. I’m drawn to characters who navigate between cultures, and languages – and to the emotional dislocation and clarity that can come with that. Place, for me, is never just a backdrop; it’s part of how people become who they are.
