Stories of Intimacy, Fracture, and Return

I write character-driven cinematic prose about connection – how it forms, how it fractures, and how it heals.

Grounded in psychological realism and close interior perspective, my work moves through belonging, grief, and love.

This space is home to my current novel, The Quiet in Us, and to the stories that grow from a deep attention to human relationships.

I create stories that draw readers into a world where they feel something real – and leave changed.

As a German-Dutch writer living between languages, cultures, and cities, I’m drawn to the quiet spaces of human experience – where appreciation, belonging, and gratitude meet loneliness, loss, and the fragile balance of mental well-being.

Writing became my way of giving these themes a voice –quietly, and in a way that feels true to who I am.

My stories are set in atmospheric, multilingual European settings, where connection develops slowly and meaning is often found in the smallest moments.

The Quiet in Us is my debut novel – a contemporary love story set across Amsterdam, Stockholm and Berlin.

If you enjoy books by Beth O’Leary, Jojo Moyes, or David Nicholls, you may find yourself at home in The Quiet in Us.

They recognize one another long before they ever meet. But when reality finally closes the distance between them, the question is no longer whether they belong together but whether love can survive the lives they have built apart.

For years, Erynn’s life has unfolded between film sets, hotel rooms, and world cities. His career is firmly established, his public life carefully contained, his roles celebrated far beyond Sweden’s borders. But the loss of his best friend Arvid shatters the fragile balance he has painstakingly maintained at the height of his success.

One evening, searching Instagram for traces of Arvid, he stumbles upon a long-forgotten comment that hits him with unexpected force. Its author, Emelle, moves confidently between languages and countries as an independent consultant. Widowed young, she has built a deliberately private life in Amsterdam with her cat Blue-Blue, surrounded by a small, trusted circle of friends and family.

What begins with a handful of messages gradually grows into something neither of them anticipated – a warm, witty refuge where late-night banter, quiet conversations, and shared silences deepen into a profound connection. Emelle’s words give shape to what Erynn struggles to name. His voice, in turn, awakens something in her she believed had long fallen silent.

As closeness deepens, distance begins to blur – yet Emelle’s professional loyalties, Erynn’s life in the public eye, and their unspoken fears press between them. In trying to protect one another, they risk the very thing they have so carefully built.

Set against the backdrop of international cities – from Stockholm and Amsterdam to London, Berlin, Vienna, and Paris – The Quiet in Us tells the story of a love born after loss, of intimacy as both shelter and risk, and of what it means to choose one another without losing yourself.

What kind of stories do you write?

I write novels that explore connection, belonging, grief, and love. Why? Because what fascinates me most is how people tick. What they feel, why they act the way they do, and what moves them beneath the surface. By writing characters with rich inner worlds, I aim to connect with readers on an emotional level. If my stories are felt rather than simply read, I’m happy.

My novels unfold across contemporary European settings and focus less on plot than on what happens inside people and between them. At heart, I see them as an invitation to reflect on what truly matters and on the connections that shape our lives.

What are you working on right now?

The Quiet in Us is the first part of a planned trilogy about Erynn and Emelle. I’m currently writing the second book, The Storm in Us, while also considering a German translation of The Quiet in Us. For now, it looks like my notepad and pen will remain my closest companions for quite some time.

Why do your stories move between places and languages?

Because many of us live between worlds. I’m drawn to characters who navigate cultures and languages – and to the emotional dislocation that can come with that. For me, place is never just a backdrop. It’s part of how people become who they are. So are languages.

I’ve always been fascinated by their unique beauty – how each one expresses emotions, values, and beliefs in ways that are both similar and entirely distinct. It amazes me how you can feel the heartbeat of a culture the moment you begin to understand and speak its language. That fascination lies at the heart of how I write.
